I. Definition Analytical Exposition is a text that elaborates the writer‘s idea about the phenomenon surrounding. Its social function is to persuade the reader that the idea is important matter, and to analyze the topic that the thesis/opinion is correct by developing an argument to support it. II. Generic Structure # Thesis: Introducing the topic and indicating the writer’s point of view. # Argument : Explaining the argument to support the writer’s position. The number of arguments may vary, but each argument must be supported by evidence and explanation. # Reiteration: Restating the writer’s point of view / to strengthen the thesis. We can use the following phrase to make conclusion in reiteration III.  In order to improve students’ ability in writing narrative text, besides their mastery of language aspects, they also have to do more exercises. They may start writing by answering questions prepared first, then, writing in chronological order the series of events tell in the story. The questions are Wh-Questions including: – What – Who – Where – When – How In writing narrative text, we may start from determining the title of the text by answering question “What is the title?” Coming into orientation, we may write the characters, the place, and the time when the story happen by answering the questions: – What happened? – Who are the characters? – Where did it happen? – When did it happen?

I. Definition   Narrative exposition is the insertion of background information within a story or narrative. This information can be about the setting, characters' backstories, prior plot events, historical context, etc. In literature, exposition appears in the form of expository writing embedded within the narrative II. Purpose   The purpose of narrative text is  to entertain the reader with the story which can be fiction or non-fiction . III.  Language Feature - Using the simple present tense. - Many use conjunctions such as because, therefore, therefore, because, etc. - Contains arguments. - Many use words that contain cause and effect (cause-effect). - Using vocabulary that can evoke emotions in the reader, such as: Amused, concerned, innocent, unreasonable, etc . I V. Types of Biography: 4. Autobiography This type of biography is written about one’s self, spanning an entire life up to the point of its writing. 5. Memoir Memoirs are a type of autobiography, written about a specific but vital aspect of one’s life. 6. Fictional Biography Fictional biographies are no substitute for a painstakingly researched scholarly biography, but they’re definitely meant to be more entertaining. IV.   I. Definition  A biography is an account of somebody's life written by somebody else, complete with details of the most important parts. II. Purpose The purpose of a biography is to share the life of another person with an audience . III. Generic Structure  A biography typically starts with the subject's birth (it's surprising how many begin with a description of the weather) and continues in a roughly chronological order until their death IV. Types of Biography: 1. Contemporary Biography Authorized or Unauthorized Sometimes these are authorized–written with permission or input from the subject or their family 2. Historical Biography 3. Biography of a Group When a group of people share unique characteristics, they can be the topic of a collective biography.

  V. Tips To Write Descriptive Text  1. Make sure to choose a meaningful person, place, or thing.
2. Introduce the person, place, or thing you are describing. 
3. Engage your reader’s sense of sight. 
4. Describe smells and tastes if you can. 
5. Describe how the moment or item feels. 
6. Describe how your subject sounds.
 7. Make unique observations.

  I. Definition Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing. II. Purpose – To describe person, thing or place in specific
– To describe a particular person, thing or place. III. Generic Structure # Identification: (contains about the introduction of a person, place, animal or object will be described.) # Description: contains a description of something such as animal, things, place or person by describing its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer describes. IV. Language Feature – Specific participant : has a certain object, is not common and unique (only one).  
– The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the noun. 
– The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used is simple present because it tells the fact of the object described. 
– Action verb: verbs that show an activity.
